You will learn this in Essentials of leadership

As a  new manager, you face many challenges. You need to manage your team, manage up and fulfil your leadership role in relation to other stakeholders such as senior managers, colleagues and external partners. This training for new managers teaches you how to have the necessary conversations and develop your own effective leadership style.

The training starts with a fundamental skill of effective leadership: active listening. Then you practise coaching, giving feedback, influencing and explore how you can adapt your style to lead effectively in different situations. We look at leading teams, dealing with conflict and negotiating. You also deepen your understanding of your role and what your priorities are within it.

As well as theory and tips, there is lots of practice. Throughout the programme we apply the theoretical components to real-life situations.

New Heroes

During this training you will have access to the online platform New Heroes and you will work actively with assignments from the New Heroes learning journeys. You can also continue to work on your own personal strength, communication and leadership skills on your own initiative. Everything at your own pace, wherever and whenever you want.

Target audience

As a young manager, you face many challenges. That’s because you are an intermediary between upper management and your team members. How do you meet the requirements defined from above, without overlooking the wishes of your team members? This training for young managers teaches you how to find the right balance and develop your own efficient leadership style.

Costs

This training costs a total of € 2.993,66 VAT not applied and is composed of the following components:

Training course 

Your investment in this training course is € 2595,00 (excluding 21% VAT). 

Are you following the training privately or through a VAT-exempt organisation (e.g. government, healthcare institution or bank)? Then we offer you the advantageous option of not paying VAT, but only a surcharge of 10% on the training and that which is inextricably linked to the training. Your investment is then € 2854,50. You can indicate this during your registration (online or by telephone).

Your investment in course material is € 118,66 (excluding VAT). You will receive:

The package also contains specific material used in this training course, such as hand-outs and online tests and scans. If you are already in possession of the literature or do not want to receive it through us, please indicate this in the comments field on the online registration form or when you register by telephone. 

Facility costs

There is a € 280,00 (excluding VAT) charge for the use of the venue, coffee/tea and an extensive buffet lunch. Facility costs do not apply to virtual courses.

Programme

Start and end measurement

This course improves your skills. We can guarantee that. How? Before you start your course, you take a scan. This determines your starting level and helps set the right goals. You receive a personal report. That way, you know exactly where you stand, what you want to accomplish, and how to get there. Your trainer helps you to focus and develop, in order to reach your full potential. After your training is done, you take another scan. This end measurement shows how much you’ve grown, and where you can still develop your skills further.

Course days

The total duration of the training course is 9 weeks. The training course consists of an online kick-off, 1 block of 2 days and 2 blocks of 1 day. Your time investment is approximately 2,5 hours of self study a week: theoretical and practical through the MijnSN learning community.

Block 1

  • day 1 from 9.30 AM till 5.00 PM
  • day 2 from 9.30 AM till 5.00 PM

Block 2 and 3

  • 1 day from 9.30 AM till 5.00 PM

Participants

The maximum group size for the training course is 12 participants.

Mentor

Real learning starts with the practical application of what you have learned. You will commence several practical assignments within your own organization, selecting a mentor to supervise and stimulate your learning process - before the first meeting. The mentor could be your manager or a (senior) colleague. For more information on the mentor's role please visit www.suas.nl/mentor. After three weeks you will take your experiences in this regard to the next meeting.

Certificate

On completion of the training course and subject to attendance and active participation, SUAS will award a certificate. Our certificates are highly regarded in the business community.
